EASTER IS AN EXCITING TIME OF CELEBRATION
Feeling the warmth of spring and seeing flowers bloom reminds us of the beauty of life. But Easter means even more. It's about hearts that were once dormant waking up to hope. It's a celebration of finding wholeness after devastation and triumphing over brokenness. Easter is all about Jesus' love for us. It's the true story of Jesus being crucified, rising from the dead three days later, and offering us the same living power that dwelled inside of him.
“And God raised the Lord and will also raise us up by his power. ”
That is something to celebrate!
The first followers and friends of Jesus saw this love at work firsthand.
They walked with him as he performed miracles — watching him cast out demons, heal the sick, and love the unlovable. One can only imagine the shockwaves that pounded the disciples’ hearts with each nail driven into Jesus’ hands and feet. How could their innocent friend and Savior be captured, tortured, and killed without cause? He was the Son of God. Why didn’t he stop his accusers? Was he powerless?
But three days later, their fears and questions ceased. Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to them. He had taken their punishment upon himself. Forgiveness was given to all on the cross, and when he rose from the grave three days later, the gap between humanity and God was closed. Life was victorious over sin and death.
“But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ — by grace you have been saved — and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. ”
